Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a useless function. Waste of space on the LCD display. It would have been better if they had tied it into the mpg function!
Mine also flashes on and off....personally I couldnt give a rats arse about eco mode....may stick some gaffer tape over that annoying little snippet of unwanted info
That reminds me of manifold vacuum gauges on American land barges of the 1960's. As I remember some even had a range demarking "economy". Of course me being a redblooded teenager I saw it as my duty to make certain that I had the needle on that gauge slammed all the way into the knucklehead zone. I suppose not much has changed in my household in the past fifty years.
to quote the owners manual, pretty funny I think: "This indicator comes on when the vehicle is being operated in an environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient manner. The indicator goes off when the vehicle is stopped." end quote...
An eco light that's always on is malfunctioning. Being the most useless gadget ever slapped on a motorcycle, however, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
My 2019 model goes off when you turn throttle like 1/2 or more... It's just like any car with the eco light.. Stay under a certain throttle angle and it's in "eco" mode.. but who fking cares right
if you turn on the mpg (or kilometers/liter?) display, you'll see that when the eco is on, you're getting the best gas mileage
seems to be another way to display it when you have another display on
has to be the dumbest feature on this bike. Makes me want to ride faster to keep it off.
Similar to the roadside radar speed signs......I always accelerate to see how high I can get the speed to read.
I don't know, maybe I just got issues?
I would also trade the eco indicator for a couple more bars of resolution on the fuel gage..........or be able to display miles / temp / or time at the same time.
I was paying attention to ECO yesterday when I was riding with a flashing single bar. Other than a KTM with a 10L tank (!!) I always seem to have the shortest riding range in my group.....even making sure to fill all the way to the neck.
I mean, the fact that the MT-09 has 33% better fuel economy over the MT-10 while having nearly the same every day performance (for me) helped me pick the MT-09. But I don't pay attention to the indicator at all and still manage mid 40s.
I reset my average MPG at the beginning of this week and checked it this morning and I'm sitting at 33.6 MPG. My commute to class is about 2 miles so I take advantage of the few miles I get to ride every day.
Did about 59 US MPG on the highway home once following a friends car in limp home mode. kept my distance from him so i did not draft.
Could do better if a wanted...............so boring i am never gonna try it again i think............. (stuck at 50-55 mph on the highway is not fun)
This engine does not like being in the lower rpms to get high MPG and is clearly not ment for it.
Buying this bike for good MPG, is like buying a Porsche 911 with a trailer hitch to tow a small trailer for your garden waste.
I can't find it now. But there was a vid of a contractor towing his work trailer behind a Lamborghini. Aventador I think
