Wierd gear indicator issue

This is a discussion on Wierd gear indicator issue within the MT-09 Forum forums, part of the Yamaha MT-09 category; I have no idea how or why this thread got locked, but I see absolutely no reason for it to be locked.....so I've unlocked it. ...

    Fixed it
    The relay was the problem, got another one and it work.
    For future reference
    Problem: After headlight fuse burned the gear indicator goes blank when the kickstand is up, when the kickstand is down the gear shown on the dash.
    Solution: replace the relay located under the seat
    Part number: 5vk-81950-40

    Just an update for this issue. The issue is fixed by replacing the largest relay under the seat 5VK-81950-40-00 Relay assembly.

    lol I just seen this comment. I figured it out with those pics you provided earlier and tested out a replacement relay from a friends bike. Sure enough everything is working as it should.
