A seat that fits me or one I like may not be one you will like. Why? because our butts are different, our weight and riding position is different.

I am on my 5th seat. Stock, Seat Concepts, Modified stock seat (gel inserts), Shad Comfort seat from Spain, Used Sargent seat form a member on forum. Because I have a 28 inch inseam, I have lowered my bike using different dogbone links. I have also lowered the seat subframe.

The seat I use is the last one on the list. Sargent. I have been able to do a couple of 250 mile days since I got it. The Shad was second best (softer but smaller up front and pretty low). Sargent is wide and hard, I find when I feel it getting to me, I can move around and then I forget about it for awhile. It is wider in front so that makes me loose some footing as a narrower seat makes getting your feet on the ground better. The Shad was narrow up front.

There are lots of posts about seats. Get one that you like. If your seat is too high lower your bike a little using the dogbone links. And Yes, you will loose some cornering (not much) but which is more important comfort or cornering. I think comfort.

Thanks for such an informative reply. I've just come down to the MT from a Ninja 1000, I lowered the bike and had a Sargent, so you've confirmed my direction.
    Thanks again for your advice.

Look up Sargent Cycle seats out of Florida. I bought one for my Yamaha FZ-09, and it is awesome. It actually lowers the height slightly, and I experience no more discomfort on 2 hour rides. Well worth the money. You can customize your seat on their website. Ask for Zane. He will even send you vinyl color samples for free. Website:
