    Area 27 track day

Got the FZ on the track today at Area 27, in Oliver BC. Great day amazing track. This was my first track day in 10 years, so was in the “relaxed” pace group. Great day except someone went off every session of our group....

I got comfortable enough to make all kinds of wacky passes on the outside of the moving pylons, some of which we lapped 3 times per session. My friend and I made 40th birthday pacts to get on the track together and it finally happened! I’m 41 in October he’s 43 in October, so better late than never.

My bike has racetech valves and springs and a zx6r shock, and an M4 full exhaust with vcyclenuts flash. I was shocked that I could pull an RC51 in a straight line with this bike.

I’ve just ordered some rearsets because no matter how much I hung off the bike I was dragging pegs or my toe slider. (I know I’ve been REALLY TRYING to get my foot position higher, I have my feet up on the ball of the foot, but I put my foot too close to the end of the peg and not up against the frame)

I had a brand new front Perrelli Rosso 3 on front, rear had 1000km on it. Never an issue there. I’d like to do this more so I could get out of the crash fest of the beginner group.

Of course after I asked that question I Googled it. Wow! What a great layout! Do bikes get to run the full course?

Yes, full circuit it was so much fun, but really demanding as there's lots of elevation changes with several "blind" corners! Our friends dubbed one such blind rise Wheelie corner, as it sent the front wheel skyward if you hit it right! I'm working through the 300+ photos my wife shot with my "real" camera now... looks like I have some fun shots to share, when I figure out how to do that again.

Well, we will be waiting on those photos. Just looking at the layout makes me want to move out west. Actually it wouldn't take much for me to move out west. Do send along some photos when you can and thanks for the "ride" report.

I also figured out my heel rubs my passenger peg mounts when I'm up on the balls of my feet, which is why I think I was putting my foot out towards the end of peg, not right up against the frame, my wife has her own bike now and if we were to go 2 up anywhere I think we'd cruise on my CB750, so I think I'm going to pull the passenger pegs off the FZ.
