That's a heck of an adventure to ride the Alcan hwy. I've had friends do it, but I've never made the trip on a motorcycle. Did you guys live up here at one time? The bike looks like it has Alaska plates on it.

We were going to ride from Seattle but Motoquest needed to get some bikes from Long Beach, CA to their Anchorage rental center for the season, so they gave us half off the rental. BMW does not make a bike that I would own, but they are decent adventure rentals.

    Places I have taken tours:
Baja, Costa Rica, Greece, Spain, and Morocco

A little chilly, but a good ride today...

That red really looks good on the FZ... And I'm not a fan of red.

Agreed - I'm not a fan of red bikes typically but it looks great on the FZ.

Great ride weather in mid TN today. I managed to get out for a short ride myself around MBoro.

I probably missed you by an hour.

Ride the trace today as well as some of the more fun roads surrounding it. The trace is like a good warm up.

Funny thing is that I live very close to the entrance of The Natchez Trace Parkway, but hardly ever take The Trace because of serious speed restrictions. We took a photo op of the bridge and took the last bit home. I ride all of the back roads around The Trace; great riding.

I can honestly say that the suspension is terrible based on my experience. It is not bad, it is terrible. My WR250R with motocross suspension was more predictable. I wanted to put some miles on it before I put the Penske shock on it (tomorrow) for comparison sake. Fork springs are on the way. I will definitely use 10W fork oil. On my CBR954RR, I like my suspension stiff, and on the FZ I cranked down on the preload and rebound, but it feels like a wallowy marshmallow. I absolutely love the razor sharp steering and the ease of which I can instigate tipping it in corners. I, also, know now that this bike is going to need a steering damper. I am accustomed to getting on the gas early on corner exit, and this bike wagged it head is disapproval on several occasions. The least little amount of rider input causes the bike to move around quite a bit.

The motor, the whole reason I bought this bike, is kick ass fun. It had me grinning ear to ear. I was cracking 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies leaving my wife on her R6S in the dust. She said that she had her bike running hard to keep up, but to no avail. She will have to have one now.
