XSR 900 + Competition Werkes Exhaust

Was investigating the possibility of fitting the competition werkes slip on exhaust on my new XSR 900. Contacted comp werkes, who suggested it would "probably" fit, but no guarantees.

Can happily say install went just great - bike looks and sounds fantastic. Much less expensive option than the akropovic full system.

Looks awesome. Can you share what was involved in the install?

Well that is great news, but don't you think that posting the cost would give us an idea of the savings???
    Thanks.

competitionwerkes.com indicates $450 (GP Slip On Exhaust)

The real questions are noise and engine behavior, compared to the M4

I like the looks of that pipe! However, it also *looks* loud... I'd love to hear some more details.

I want something a little more "growly" than the stock pipe, but I don't need everyone in town to know when I wick open the throttle, know what I mean?

Definitely *not* quiet with the baffle out - baffle in, it's still quite loud

Side by side, seems quieter than my friend's ducati scrambler with termignioni exhaust if that helps.

I believe the cost was something to the tune of $600 CAD - so about half the cost of a full system.

Installation was reasonably easy if you've worked with an angle grinder before. Took about 10 minutes to cut the exhaust.

As far as tuning goes, Werkes says you *don't* need a remap - but theres a fair bit of popping on decel (nothing like the akro with baffle out, though)

Mechanic at the dealer says he may be able to make a few adjustments when I take her in for first service.

Hope this helps. Love the look of the werkes - I don't dig the super Japanese race carbon look of the other exhaust systems.

Any updates on if the dealer was able to help out with decel popping? Or do you think a tune is the way to go? Thanks!!
