Sydney. But originally from Montreal eh? Yup, I get to listen to those accents all day, every day!

Yup, not sure about the Hog in my garage. It looks cool, and the ride can be enjoyable but I'm not always in the mood for it. The braking and cornering limitations sometimes bug me, but that's not really a criticism. It is what it is, and what it is may not be my thing. Switching from forward to mid foot controls really helped make it feel more normal. I've had it for almost two years now and I still have mixed emotions. Unlike my other bikes which I only feel good about all the time!

Hi, new to the forum. Just ordered mine from Collinsville Yamaha in Collinsville, IL for $10,560 OTD. Got the matte gray/silver. No official date yet, sometime in March is what I'm told.

Does the price you got from Collinsville include taxes and tag?
The reason I ask is because in Oklahoma tag and tax is paid by the buyer separate from the "out the door" cost at the dealership.

Ya includes taxes, title and tags. IL tax rate is 6.25%, title is $95 and tags are $41. Hope this helps.

    Sydney, Australia hot news:

Was told by my dealer to watch Yamaha's website for info, etc. Randomly called today to see what's up and they told me they are about to uncrate a blue one (rock slate?) this afternoon at Trooper Lu's Garage here in Sydney! The salesman, Troy, didn't know if it was going to be a demo yet, or when more are coming but they did tell me they think it will be 14.5 K AUD rideaway (I think).

Anyway, I plan to swing by tomoz to throw a leg over at least and hopefully take it for a test burn!

the only rational way to price compare across jurisdictions is to subtact out all mandatory taxes, registration and other gov't fees so you're left with bike cost and any BS 'fees' the dealer tacks on. So it you have an OTD, that fine but also post something that can be compared.

For denizens of VA and WVa discerning buyers go to Romney Cycles. Though when pushed the Yam dealer outside of Winchester will play ball.

We are in a different market down here than you, of course pattonme, so I'm not trying to criticize whatever the point is you're trying to make. It might be valid, but I don't understand what you're getting at.

Surely, no matter where you are, the price that matters to us potential customers, is the final, out the door, or rideaway price, or whatever it's called wherever you are. Taxes, dealer prep, rustproofing, "delivery experience" (I've actually been told that at a car dealership once, FFS) tinting, lace curtains, etc, can vary and can be a certain amount of bullshit or tradition in your local market, but in the end, the money we have to fork over to ride the bike away is, all arguments aside, the final word and the only REAL number we can compare.

Just my opinion, so feel free to educate me on what I'm missing.

OTD prices are/can be heavily influenced by tax rate where 0 vs 4 vs 7 show up as BIG numerical differences and void any useful comparisons, not to mention vagaries in registration fees.

"I got $8900 OTD in Delaware" (made up) is not a useful bargaining point in California where the tax rate is high where paying $10,500 is actually cheaper than the aforementioned $8900.

I'm all for getting the best deal but these sort of threads almost never yield useful numbers if quoted in OTD terms. All I'm asking is that since it's an international forum subtract out every mandatory fee/tax and post in local currency. Only then do you have apples vs apples instead of apples vs hyenas vs bananas.

I do see what you mean about a thread like this being mainly pointless, unless you live in the same state/province, etc.

Not to mention that you only ever really find out the real rideaway price when you talk turkey with the dealer and are about to hand over actual money. All talk prior to that point can be meaningless.

I guess this thread is something for us all to do while waiting for actual bikes to be in the dealerships!

Once we get them, then we can start a thread about the best oil to use in an XSR900...
