    Question Which coolant?

    Hello,
    I have a 2014 FZ-09
I want to flush the cooling system, and re-fill.
    What coolant can I use?

I am unable to acquire YamaCool in my area.
And the temperatures here never drop below 60°F.

    Any recommended brand?
    Thank you!

Engine ice is what I use. It's not cheap though.

I use Engine Ice too. There was absolutely no change in engine temp though like the company claims. It's not worth it. Just buy your standard coolant at Autozone.

Any aluminum safe anti-freeze works (all are now days). Get some pre-mixed stuff at your local auto parts store.

I use Peak Long-Life coolant in all my vehicles, available as either full strength (mix with distilled water) or already pre-diluted. Its sold at Target, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. They also have a tech help-line 1 800 number.

Unless you are over heating, no coolant will reduce the operating temperature because the thermostat will insure it reaches normal temp no matter how much better a coolant might conduct heat.

peak 50/50. says its safe for motorcycles on the label. if you dont get pre-mixed remember you have 2 dilute the concentrated antifreeze as mentioned above,

the only reason I would buy regular antifreeze concentrate (not 50/50 premixed/ready to use) is

*if I had to make a bunch of antifreeze to refill a engine block and radiator, you can make two gallons of 50/50 antifreeze out of one gallon of regular concentrate antifreeze. thats the only advantage of buying concentrate.

I'm thinking one gallon of 50/50 would be enough to fill the FZ's radiator back up.

also check your manual that came with the motorcycle. it will tell you how many gallons it will take to refill after flushing the radiator.
