    Wait for the '17 FZ09??

I'm looking at getting an FZ towards the end of the year around October. I've been reading as much as I can about the new '17 coming out and I really like the new features. So for you guys that are more familiar with these bikes than I am, do you think it's worth getting? Or would my efforts be better spent looking for a used 2016?

Just my two cents but after having a leftover 2015 FZ-09 NEW for $7,300 out the door and looking at getting rid of it due to being dumb I'm looking to get another left over now for $6,779 for yellow, blue $7,519 and black for $7,700 out the door for them. The savings on a leftover is going to be $2,000-$3,000 easy I'd go for a left over and use the other money on mods.

Is it styling or features? If you like the new look, go for it. The suspension will be better stock than the earlier models, but do you need TC and ABS? Up to you. I've had two FZ's and now have an XSR as well. I don't care about TC or ABS, and the slipper clutch doesn't sway me either way. I love my '16 FZ, but had the suspension completely upgraded. It all depends on what YOU want out of the bike. Go ride both versions, if you can. Cheers, G.

If spending $1500 more for ABS/TC/slipper clutch/LED headlight/upgraded front suspension appeal to you, go for it. Dealers might be willing to deal on 2017's in October. If I were buying today, I'd be spending the extra $$ on a 2017 white model.

ABS- I've been riding for a very long time and I've never felt a need for it. It's a nice plus I suppose but not something I'd pay extra for.

TC- again not needed. Muscle control on the right wrist works just as well.

Slipper clutch- I've owned bikes both with and without, and outside of a track day situation I've never seen a big benefit. On the street if you don't downshift 3 gears and dump the clutch you'll never notice it.

Don't get me wrong they are all nice features. But if you can pick up a leftover 2014-2016 for several thousand less there's no big advantage to the 2017. And with the old ones you can avoid the godawful transformers headlight on the 2017.

I really like the new headlight, I'd wait for a '17.

October is still a long way away, and as such, you have plenty of time to change your mind...Several times...LOL

That said, if you want the new features/look, then the choice is clear.

As others have said, by October you might be able to pickup a '17 at a discounted price.
I bought my leftover '15 last April (spring '16) and I was able to get mine for $9k OTD where as the '16 was $9k plus tax & prep (I saved around $1600).

As for the new features, what kind of riding experience do you have? Are you used to ABS & TC already? Are you planning to take it on the track or street only?
The slipper clutch isn't really noticeable on the street unless you're pushing it, though the clutch lever is a bit easier to pull in. There are aftermarket levers which fix that though (RSC, Impaktech, HaleRaceWorks, etc)

    Edit:
In case you haven't seen this yet:

Been away for nearly two years. Own a first year FZ-09 and FJ-09. When I saw the '17 FZ-09 online yesterday it blew me away! Told the wife i was thinking about getting another F*-09 bike today. She said if you really want it just go ahead and get it when the dealer has one. Just love my wife so much at times like these
