I have no shame about this modification, but to clarify, it wasn't "wadded" it was folded . I am 'thrifty' bordering on tightwad. I could have bought a BMW GS but bought a Yamaha SuperTenere instead. I could have bought a Speed3 or Tuono, but I just couldn't justify the cash for what is, essentially my toy. So, I'm taking the above as high praise!

Just tried it, seems better. Time, and my butt, will tell.

PVC cement works equally well, however is a bit more difficult to work with in delicate situations due to the size of the applicator. But PVC cement works extremely well

Provided that the piece you are applying it to does not experience excessive movement ( bending, stretching, you get the picture )

Here is my chemisty theory for the electrical tape and fingernail polish:
Electrical tape is usually made of abs. Nail polish is similar to enamel paint and enamel paint uses MEK or acetone as a carrier/thinner. MEK and acetone will dissolve abs. As the MEK or acetone evaporates will result in the electrical tape to merge into a single chunk.

No, it doesn't melt it. It merely seals it
