I have the 2016 model and I'm wondering if I can just slap on the 2017 headlight and forks to my bike. Does anyone know if it'll fit without too much of a hassle? The abs and traction control doesn't really interest me too much and I can do without the slipper clutch.
The OEM forks MIGHT be better and they definitely have much better damping as I did the bounce test on one yesterday in the dealership and they don't keep pogo dancing like the 2016 does. But there is no way they will compare to a GP, Traxxion or Ohlins kit and unless you got them from a wreck the OEMs will not be cheaper.
The headlight might be a PIA to swap. The cables are all different lengths and the connectors for the new LED headlights have changed. I think you would need serious wiring changes to make it fit. Front signals from 2016 and earlier will not fit. The wires are long now and have to reach all the way up to the dash, so all the aftermarket versions I've seen will be too short.
Slipper, ABS, seat and rear tail light are why want a 2017, I like the new looks, except for that rear plate holder. It isn't even coming home on the bike, I've told the dealer to remove it - ugliest thing I've ever seen, ashamed to ride with that on there. And if the swingarm has some God awful mount hole to hold it I will need to get that welded and sealed up so I don't have flashbacks about it.
Looks like thing attaches at the rear axle. Hey, they offer a Yosh full system.
