There are a bunch of pages out there dedicated to the sv650 rear shock swap.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...COvG24gH#gid=1

This link is a chart someone put together about the different popular shocks. Our shock is 13" eye to eye so about the same length as these. I dont claim anything here as accurate, so proceed at your own risk.

Just gotta be careful here. The main reason I went with the 2008-10 is the offset canister to clear the plastic under tray.

But nice find here... from what I found my spring is a 9.1kg/mm... 510 lb/in.

Well I just purchased a 2006 zx6r rear shock. I'll let everyone know how it goes. If the interwebs is correct then this shock should be .2" longer than stock and should be sprung better for my weight range. I'll need to remove my evap can now. $39 delivered on ebay! Definitely worth the risk to me.

2004 seems to have a stiffer spring... cheap one in flee bay available.

so I installed a 2008 zx10r shock today. trimmed the plastic tray to clear the reservoir, but didn't like how the compression adjusters were a pita to get to. turns out you can mount the shock with the reservoir pointing down towards the starter and get a clear strait shot at the adjusters from the right side. at full droop, there is about 1/8" gap between the shock and starter, and as the suspension compresses, you gain clearance. Now im not too sure i could have gotten the shock flipped around that way without trimming the plastic tray back. i guess the next guy to put their shock in can give it a try before cutting it up.

also found my rear brake line rubbed the paint off the swing arm a little bit although the brake line covers it....
