What’s The Difference Between Rake And Trail?

    Dear MOby,

So is it the rake or the trail that determines how fast or slow a bike steers? Lot of things I read and hear seem to use the two interchangeably at random? Which is it?

It's potentially useful information for those who care to take it in, placed by the owners of this site. There's no reason to bash them for posting useful info. If you don't care to read it, don't. Mark it read and move on. No harm, no foul.

Rake is the angle at which the forks are from the frame. Trail is the distance the centre line of the front wheel is from vertical. The bigger this distance the harder it will be to turn the wheel. The larger the rake the slower any turning circle will be....also tipping the bike in will be affected as will the stiffness of the forks/chassis plus some other shit.
