Took a chance and purchased an ebay/Chinese rear mud guard for the FZ. Settled at $80/shipped BO. Probably be a couple/few weeks before install but I'll post up pix/info when completed.

Just got this installed today. Very nicely finished product from China. The biggest downside is that the axle mount piece blocks the chain adjustment marks on the axle block. Not a concern if using my Motion Pro chain alignment tool. Not quite sold on the carbon fiber look but would be easy to Plasti Dip if so inclined. I do like it though...

If you had have waited a couple of weeks you probably could have gotten a steal of a deal on an OEM 2017 one....I think that they will likely be the first thing removed from the new ones.

Hmmmm.. Never thought of that. Probably more than $80 though.

Any idea if the 2017 OEM one would fit an XSR? Compared pictures and the swingarm bolts look exactly the same between 2017 FZ-09 and 2016 XSR900... Love how the OEM mudguard looks and it would be much easier to get than one from China (Maybe cheaper too?)

I doubt you'll find an OEM mud guard for even close to $80. Hell, Yamaha charges $150 for the little MT-09 SR chin spoiler. Plus, the OEM one will be wired up for license plate/lighting. We shall see.....

Not sure on that one, they do look alike though.

On the price of the used oem ones, that's going to depend on the demand from gen 1 owners who want to install it, which I can't see it being that many. I may be way off on this but I can see guys giving them away because I'm guessing a good number of people are going to remove it just like most of us did on our 1st gens.

I have to think if you're willing to pay for that abortion clamped to the back of the new fzs youll have no problem finding a seller in the next few months.
