No, not really. It's a softer feel. Kinda like those micro suede couches. When you run your hand across it, it leaves a trail. I find it much more comfortable than stock seat. It seems to have an extra layer of soft padding. The back of the stock seat is more leathery.

So far, mine has worn fine - about 6000k on that seat.

It *does* leave your butt soaking wet after a lil rain. Also, still has a tendency to make you slide forward more than I'd like (similar to the stock seat).

I am really glad you said that.

I took delivery of mine with the custom seat -- had to ride home 90+ miles with the stock seat stuffed into a Kreiga backpack; probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but it worked out. I like the custom seat a lot, 2,000+ miles so far, and wear is minimal / pretty much unnoticeable.

I have a (true) custom seat on y R1200RT built by Baldwin, and may reach out to them again to re-do my stock seat. The drill was to send him your stocker, a bunch of pics & of yourself, and he builds up the donor shell with memory foam and gel (don't know if he does bikes other than BMW, though). I got mine done in leather, and he sells this beeswax paste that makes the leather pretty effectively water resistant. You need to apply it from time to time, but it works well. The seat is insanely comfortable (I've done 11+ hour rides on it) and looks pretty nice, too. As it's a larger 2-piece, stock heating elements re-installed, and leather, it was not a cheap date, but as my wife rocks, she got it for me as a combo birthday-Christmas present. If you ride a lot, a good seat is worth the cost.

Definitely better looking and more comfortable than stock, but the cover does retain water (not the foam, just the 'suede' of the cover). I use standard seat Oct-April, then the custom seat goes on.

Is it noticeably more comfortable than stock? I've been out this morning and I got about 45 mins before I found the stock one uncomfortable but I run a lot nowadays so my arse cheeks are non existent, so I could be dropping 200 sovs on an extra 15 minutes! For me, the maroon/burgundy seat makes the garage bike and is one of the things I love about it but I'm gonna have to change something.
