I was just reading through this thread and this is the first time I've ever even heard of Dairyland insurance. So I pulled a quote and they happen to be the cheapest full coverage option for me at $721/yr! So what I'm wondering is are these guys good? I'm in Utah, so is it possible to only pay for comprehensive during the winter and upgrade to full coverage when I'm actually riding? btw I'm 19 single male so most companies just love to rape me... Geico wanted $5200/yr.
Check out allstate too. Geico wanted $2700/year from me, and allstate will do $560/yr for full.
I had liability only from geico for $320 and moved to allstate for $112/yr. None too shabby.
Just did Allstate. They want just over $2000/year for same coverage and higher deductible... looks like in going to Dairyland because IMO 63/month is a steal considering my age and the bike I'm on.
Progressive moto only policy, 100/300k liability, $74 per year.
Doesn't make sense to me to pay for full coverage on a sub $8k bike. Everyone has a different financial situation and risk tolerance though.
I went to Progressive who I've had had a multiple vehicles policy for years to get a quote on my FZ09. They wanted north of $3,000. More than I pay for full coverage combined on 3 new Subarus.
My agent shopped Dairy land and came back with full coverage for $600.
I have Dairyland for the FZ-09, R3, Honda Shadow and RT Spyder. For full coverage, 100/300 etc, I pay about $250 per bike.
They wanted $750/yr for the 2016 Ninja zx6r. I went with progressive and got some basic coverage.

2015 Yamaha R3
2016 Kawasaki ZX6R
2006 Harley XL1200L (sold)
+ lots of cars ('86 Grand National, '78 Trans Am, '86 Vette, '10 R/T Challenger, '16 Corvette Z51 3LT, '16 WRX...etc...it's a sickness)
Sounds to me like the insurance headquarters in each state pays a specified amount to their national headquarters and set their profit margins where they feel like it. I don't believe it's my agent, because he got me a much lower rate with the other insurance.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
Nothing truer than this. I do the same thing. Sure it takes some shopping around but if it saves you several hundred $ over the course of a year, it's worth the time it takes to make a few phone calls.

You guys do know that there are a lot of variables with insurance, right? Some of those being - credit, bundled insurance like other vehicles and homes. Location based, High risk versus low risk, previous accidents, age etc. The list goes on and on.
For what its worth, i have allstate and pay $470 a year for the fz. Not to bad. Same coverage as my last bikes.
